Jackie Ballantyne

In 2005 Jackie was runner-up in the fiction section of the Middlesex University Literary Prize with her story I saw them make sausages out of Also Falzone's horse. Her first novel How to Stop a Heart from Beating was published in 2007 by Random House. Her second novel The Silver Gaucho was published by The Doby Press in 2014, and in 2015 was shortlisted for the International Rubery Book Award. While Chair of the New Zealand Society of Authors Otago Southland branch, Jackie created the local Writers' Salon which hosts readings by local writers once a month during the summer.
